Diptych — Woven Collection

Acrylic / mixed media on canvas

77cm x 77cm x 3.5cm each panel
Overall installed size: approximately 77cm x 156cm with spacing

I was never meant to exist alone.

Actually… there are two of us.
And truthfully, we’re both a little too attached to ever be separated now.

We were created as a pair because connection rarely exists in isolation. Across two canvases, our woven forms stretch, lean and pull gently toward one another — held together through tension, balance and trust.

My maker created us using layered textile and acrylic on canvas, shaping gathered folds and sculptural knots that speak to the invisible ties holding people together through life, love, friendship and belonging. We remind you that even when space exists between us, connection can still remain deeply felt.

Our vibrant interplay of turquoise, chartreuse, soft grey and layered neutrals was intentionally chosen to bring movement, warmth and contemporary energy into a space. As light shifts throughout the day, our folds, textures and shadows evolve too — changing subtly depending on where you stand and how long you choose to sit with us.

We were created to bring softness, curiosity and a sense of togetherness into a home. Fair warning though — much like our larger woven siblings, humans seem irresistibly drawn to touching textured things. A small “please don’t touch the artwork” sign may save you from watching curious hands slowly drift in our direction.

Designed as a contemporary statement diptych, we hold presence both individually and together — though between us… we definitely prefer staying side by side.

Room settings are a guide, please check measurements to be sure of the size.

Artist Bio

Suzanne Carter is a contemporary Australian mixed media artist based in Tomakin on the NSW South Coast.

Her practice explores connection as an evolving experience, expressed through multiple visual languages that move between sculptural textile form and expressive abstraction. Working intuitively, she builds each piece through a process of response and refinement, allowing compositions to develop their own rhythm, movement and energy.

Suzanne’s current collections — including Botanicals, Woven, Deep Reflections, Exuberance and Koi — explore different expressions of connection, from nature-inspired forms to quiet introspection and bold, energetic movement. Her work often sits between painting and object, particularly within her textile-based pieces, where hand-constructed elements introduce depth, structure and tactile presence.

An award-winning artist, Suzanne has received Champion and First Prize at the Moruya Agricultural Show and multiple awards including the Royal Canberra Show 2026. Most recently, she was recognised with the Service Art Award at the South Coast Private Hospital Wollongong Art Exhibition, acknowledging artistic achievement and creativity of service personnel.

Her work is increasingly collected for its contemporary presence, emotional depth and ability to transform a space, with a growing audience drawn to both her sculptural textile works and expressive abstract paintings
