Artwork Description

This original acrylic painting captures a quiet moment in the Australian bush, featuring a striking magpie standing alert before the weathered timbers of an old rural shed. Rich textures and layered brushwork bring the aged wood to life, while soft grasses and wildflowers add balance and calm to the composition.
Painted with care and close observation, this piece reflects a deep appreciation for Australia’s rural landscapes and native wildlife. The contrast between the bold black-and-white magpie and the muted, timeworn structure creates a strong focal point, drawing the viewer into a story of resilience, stillness, and connection to place.
Perfect for lovers of Australian fauna, country interiors, or those seeking a statement piece with character and authenticity.

Artist Bio

I am an Australian-born artist living in the beautiful forest town of Blackwood Victoria, where daily life is shaped by the rhythms of the bush. Surrounded by tall trees, birdsong, and changing light, my work is deeply influenced by the natural environment that I call home.
I have been painting for over ten years and am entirely self-taught. Working primarily in acrylics, I am drawn to capturing the character and quiet beauty of uniquely Australian flora, fauna, and landscapes. Animals and birds feature strongly in my work, reflecting a lifelong affinity with nature and a deep respect for the places and creatures that share our land.
My paintings are created from photographic references and are guided by a desire to convey warmth, familiarity, and a sense of connection — moments that feel distinctly Australian and gently nostalgic. Living close to the bush continually inspires my palette, textures, and subject matter.
I am married, with two grown daughters and one granddaughter, and my family life is an important part of who I am and how I see the world. Painting is both a creative practice and a way of slowing down, observing, and honouring the natural beauty found in everyday Australian life
