Artwork Description

This artwork is a striking contemporary piece that blends Classical Mythology with the decorative aesthetics of the Art Nouveau movement and Byzantine iconography.
The central figure is almost certainly Persephone (or her Roman counterpart, Proserpina), the Queen of the Underworld and Goddess of Spring. Here is a breakdown of the stylistic and symbolic influences present in the work:
1. Stylistic Influences
• Art Nouveau (Jugendstil): The most immediate influence is the work of Gustav Klimt. This is seen in the heavy use of gold leaf (or gold-toned paint), the concentric circles of the halo, and the intricate, geometric mosaic patterns on her robes.
• Byzantine Iconography: The front-facing, symmetrical pose and the large, radiant halo mimic traditional religious icons. This elevates the figure from a mere character to a divine entity.
• Symbolist Movement: The dreamlike quality and the use of "eyes" embedded in the trees and clothing suggest a deeper, mystical consciousness, typical of late 19th-century Symbolism.
2. Key Symbols & Mythology
The piece acts as a visual narrative of the myth of the seasons.
Artistic Note: The artist uses "horror vacui" (fear of empty space), a technique where every inch of the canvas is filled with detail, creating a sense of overwhelming divine presence and intricate natural interconnectedness.

Artist Bio

From my earliest memories, I have been a maker of worlds with pencil and brush. I can still see my father, proud, placing my drawings on display—moments that planted the seed of a lifelong devotion to art.

Painting is my passage to another realm: a space alive with color, pattern, and thought in its purest form. Often, the work itself whispers the next stroke, guiding me as initial intentions transform into unexpected visions.

I am inspired by the luminous elegance of Klimt, the flowing lines of Mucha, the intricate beauty of Morris, the bold grace of De Lempicka, the ethereal light of Monet, and the daring, vibrant energy of Picasso and Matisse. Their echoes are woven into my own visual language, a celebration of inner beauty, the sacredness of nature, and the invisible threads of energy that connect all things.

Professionally trained with a degree in Creative and Visual Arts (2016), I have been fortunate to share my work in exhibitions, where it has found homes and hearts to dwell in. Each piece is both a reflection and an invitation—to pause, to feel, and to see the world as a tapestry of connection and wonder.
