Melbourne's heritage "W" Class Tram serves the City Tram Route 35. In its distinctive maroon, green and gold livery it travels around the City Circle tram route past many of Melbourne historic icons. The service is free, passengers and visors are able to hop on and off when they please. This art work is set with heritage tram 888 at Flinders Street Tram Steps outside Flinders Street Train Station. The "W" Trams were made at Preston Workshops from 1920 while the construction on Flinders Street Railway Station commenced in 1905. These two heritage icons mingle well with today's modern society and are part of Melbourne's every day life.
