Originally from Sydney, daughter of Italian immigrants, I moved from Sydney to Newcastle 12 years ago and enjoy living in inner city Newcastle with all it has to offer in culture and physical beauty. I have a background in pedagogy and psychology and I have a strong belief in play and ‘making mistakes’ as integral to most learning including in art.
My art style is varied and I prefer to have a free style which could turn in any direction as I continue to learn. I generally paint in acrylics on either paper or canvas. I also design bead jewellery and dabble in other forms of creative expression like sewing. Currently, I’m interested in German Expressionism. I find it particularly interesting as it focusses on the artist’s inner feelings or ideas over replicating reality. I like this style as it seems liberating in the art.
