A lonely yellow house on a faraway archipelago, with magnificent mountains looming on top of it. Imagine living in serenity and solitude, the only company you keep surrounded by nothingness is the giant palm wrapping around the house, cocooning you from the great outdoors. A moody painting that exercises the use of greys, and a pop of colour that is the cabin.
Sylvia Xu Connor is a Sydney based artist and designer. She started drawing from a young age, then turning her drawings into little paper models of houses, clothes and other collectibles. Her obsession with seeing and creating the beauty in all things has led to a life well travelled, and a long career in fashion and textiles design, working for an array of Australian labels along the way.
Adhering to her design philosophy, her art evokes a feeling of being in a suspension of dreaming and longing for beauty. She is a colour, composition and pattern expert. Her main inspiration is nature and the peculiar relationship humans have with it- be it awe, admiration, curiosity or fear.
Leave the road, take the trails. It would be an honour to grace your walls with my paintings.
