Gallant Gouldians

After a heavy rainfall event, ephemeral lakes and rivers in Australia's arid landscape replenish...and draw large flocks of beautiful birds including parrots, finches and wrens. The rivers won't flow for long but Australia's colourful birds make the most of the good times.

This painting of Australia's rare Gouldian or rainbow finches was part of Sequel Gallery's (Geelong) 'Ephemeral' group exhibition in June 2024.

I am a self-taught artist based in Melbourne who works with mainly oil and acrylics on stretched canvas. My colourful and whimsical style of paintings often take inspiration from my love for animals, travel and the places I've lived in.

Painting has always brought me immense joy and it is how I am able truly express myself. It also provides an invaluable balance to my current 9-to-5 job as a Transport Planner.
