With a background in Art Education, and obtaining a degree in Visual Arts , Talia was fortunate to win an Italian Government scholarship where she studied Art in Tuscany
Her work really demonstrates the love that she has for nature. In many ways she seems to be drawn to the texture, it’s forms and the way the weather grabbles at it through all its change of seasons.
Talia is drawn to natures vibrating energy , giving her a sense of freedom. She also describes the roots as being deeply entrenched demonstrating strength, which she draws parallels on a personal level.
Talia predominantly uses mixed media as she likes the combination of wet and dry materials. At times she draws back into the wet paint or scratches the surface with a metal implement. She states, mixed media allows her to push through those conventional boundaries,as it is expressive and a correlation of her subject matter.
Talia has always worked on a two dimensional scale, either through printmaking, drawing or painting
Recently her work has taken on a new direction
She is drawn to the forms of natural timber . The individual organic pieces is what determines the finish product in its own unique way . Talia explains, “ each piece at times almost takes on a journey of it’s own as I relish the beautiful grains that seep through the painting and I work with it”
All her paintings are a visual journal of places she has visited. The pieces draw her into a sense of space that gives her such tranquility, and hopes it will take her audience there too.
