The sun shone down, and beauty bloomed, but inbound were bulldozers, a dark shadow loomed.
Each golden petal kissed by the sun's embrace, a fragile, fleeting and wondrous grace.
Their vibrant colors could be but a dream, lost in the wake of progress’s scheme.
Let the last leopard’s roar be our call, to cherish our world or lose it all.

I am completely enamoured and in love with the beauty of our native sun orchids. For this still life piece I wanted to capture the Leopard Sun Orchid (Thelymitra Benthamiana), the Chestnut Sun Orchid (Thelymitra Fuscolutea) and the Tiger Sun Orchid (Thelymitra Tigrina). The Spotted Pardaloted stares deeply down and the toy digger pondering its presence. This still life painting speaks to the fragility of some of our native orchid species and the delicate balance between progress and protection.
