Artwork Description

Sunday Wildflower came to me after a toasty humid afternoon overlooking the water with my husband.
In darker lighting (and from certain angles) the center of the flower - painted with rose gold copper leaf - looks a deep golden-tangerine-garnet colour. In sunlight the shades are more neon, bright and tropical.

Artist Bio

Hi, I love to use fluro and pastel colours contrasted with deep earthy tones - prettiness with some dark. Sugary pinks and blood reds.
Flowers and mythical garden images emerge when I start to paint. The visions I hold in my mind are of magical, otherworldly flora ... tendrils, petals, cobwebs, sweetness.
I'm inspired by my sub-tropical Queensland environment and it's sunny humid happiness.
On stretched canvas I use acrylic (for a wild and messy base image), alcohol ink (which creates its own little veins and directions on the canvas), some collage and gel pen (for some metallic / shimmery detail).
I paint very intuitively.
I have three planets in pisces (sun, venus and mercury), I don't like musicals or rom coms. I collect Alice in Wonderland books and live with my husband Brett, our semi-feral tabby cat Lylah and our Kelpie Nyah.
