Artwork Description

She is dressed up in all her finery for her engagement to a Prince. In a beautiful blue saree with jewels to match. The expression on her face is serious as the gravity of the evening descends on her.

Artist Bio

I have always wanted to be an artist. As a young girl I would spend hours relaxing in my sister’s room as she quietly painted with classical music softly playing in the background. She was the artist in the family and like many young girls I wanted to be like my sister!

Fast forward 30 years, I find myself in Singapore, living in Sentosa and spending time with a group of very talented women as we learn the basics about drawing cubes, circles, practicing still life and shading drapes. I can say with out hesitation that I had the best art teacher during those years. Cora Waterhouse taught us the basics and then encouraged us to blossom into the areas that interested us the most. I was also very influenced by other art teachers who taught me the stippling technique, where you create a pattern simulating varying degrees of solidity or shading by using small dots..
Drawing with charcoal was interesting, pastels were a beautiful mess, but trying each medium was a delight in itself.

I finally settled on acrylic painting and pastels. I enjoy using the pallet knife technique to add texture to the paintings. After a few years in Singapore, most of Cora’s students moved back overseas, myself included, but Sentosa was where my art journey began….

I am privileged to say that my paintings are hanging in homes in Singapore, Manila, Colombo (Sri Lanka), Hawaii and Sydney. I hope that each painting has brought a whisper of joy to its owner.

Tania now lives in Sydney with her husband and teenage daughter.
