TARA EVANS BIO
A lifetime’s passion for colour and expression takes full flight in the vibrant eclecticism of award-winning Gold Coast artist Tara Evans.
Her free-flowing style lends itself to a range of media and subject matter; all imbued with her signature energy and high-impact palette.
Born in Sydney and raised on New South Wales’ stunning mid-north coast, Tara’s innate skill was apparent from a young age. Throughout her schooling, her work was recognised with major student awards, including a finalist berth in the NSW Gallery of Modern Art’s annual showcase for the country’s finest high-school artists.
The self-taught abstract expressionist gravitated towards training in graphic design; providing a formal, structured foundation for her interpretative instincts. Graphic design provided a professional creative outlet, yet Tara found herself drawn back to the tactile fundamentals of paint and canvas.
Living in Brisbane, Tara’s work came to the attention of rugby league player-turned-established artist Wayne Robertson, who invited her to exhibit in his gallery. As well as establishing her as a sought-after local artist, the residency at Brisbane gallery evolved into a mentorship in which Wayne’s encouragement saw Tara’s personal style deepen and flourish.
A recent family move to the laid-back Gold Coast beach life is translating into even greater confidence and unique expression in how she sees and captures the essence, energy and colours of the everyday. Tara balances the demands of being mum to a beautiful, busy toddler with the creative release of painting commissions for a growing clientele throughout Australia.
