This vibrant toucan emerged from a desire to create a fully immersive, psychedelic scene — one that feels alive and quietly hypnotic. Surrounded by glowing flora and rhythmic patterning, the toucan becomes more than a subject; it acts as a focal point, drawing the viewer into a trance-like state where colour, movement, and presence blur together.
Originally created for a festival in South East Queensland, the work was displayed publicly and received strong interest and praise, sparking a deeper exploration of this style. Since then, I’ve continued developing this body of work using bold, high-saturation colours that intensify under UV light, revealing an additional layer of energy and depth.
This piece is designed to shift with its environment — calm and striking in daylight, and electric under UV — creating a sense that the artwork is actively responding to the space it inhabits. I’m particularly drawn to creating works that feel immersive and transportive, inviting the viewer into a moment of altered perception.
