Compression

Compression explores the quiet tension created when curved organic forms and angular planes converge within a confined space. Rich magenta and violet hues surround sculptural cream shapes, while a single rust-orange accent provides a focal point amid the layered composition. Textural brushwork and subtle tonal shifts invite the viewer to discover shifting relationships between structure and movement. The painting remains intentionally open to interpretation, encouraging personal responses rather than describing a fixed subject.

I am a proud father and stepfather of four and grandfather of two who after after retirement from working in construction and mental health for many years finally found time to pursue my lifelong interest in art.
I am self taught and enjoy the satisfaction of experimentation and discovery and the anticipation of what will emerge from the piece being worked on.
I am inspired by many things in nature and the built environment particularly the fleeting and unexpected images you sometimes see out of the corner of the eye in poor light.
