Artwork Description

Confluence explores the meeting point between organic curves and geometric planes. Warm ochres and luminous greens interlock within an open field of pale blue, creating a sense of movement, balance and quiet tension. The textured hessian surface enriches the layered acrylic paint, giving the work a tactile quality that complements its sculptural forms. Rather than depicting a specific place or object, the painting invites viewers to discover their own associations with architecture, landscape or natural growth.

Artist Bio

Ted Forbes is a Newcastle-based self-taught abstract artist working primarily in acrylic on hessian and canvas. Beginning his artistic journey after retirement, he creates intuitive paintings that explore the relationship between architecture, landscape and organic form. Influenced by Albert Namatjira, Russell Drysdale, Wassily Kandinsky and Nicolas de Staël, his work has found homes with collectors through Blue Thumb and local exhibitions.
