In the fold

Within the Fold explores the meeting point between structure and softness through a series of overlapping abstract forms. Layers of muted aqua, stone grey, warm earth tones and luminous green create a quiet spatial dialogue that suggests shelter, balance and transformation.
Painted on hessian, the textured surface remains an active part of the composition, allowing the natural weave to emerge through translucent layers of acrylic. The central green form acts as a visual anchor, drawing the eye into an interior space where light appears to gather and unfold.

I am a proud father and stepfather of four and grandfather of two who after after retirement from working in construction and mental health for many years finally found time to pursue my lifelong interest in art.
I am self taught and enjoy the satisfaction of experimentation and discovery and the anticipation of what will emerge from the piece being worked on.
I am inspired by many things in nature and the built environment particularly the fleeting and unexpected images you sometimes see out of the corner of the eye in poor light.
