Artwork Description

An abstract exploration of interlocking, fractured forms combining pale greens, blue-greys and turquoise with warm ochre and earthy brown. Layered acrylic, scraping and drawn lines create a weathered, tactile surface in which geological, architectural and organic associations overlap.

Artist Bio

Ted Forbes is a Newcastle-based self-taught abstract artist working primarily in acrylic on hessian and canvas. Beginning his artistic journey after retirement, he creates intuitive paintings that explore the relationship between architecture, landscape and organic form. Influenced by Albert Namatjira, Russell Drysdale, Wassily Kandinsky and Nicolas de Staël, his work has found homes with collectors through Blue Thumb and local exhibitions.
