I’m a Perth based artist working from a home studio in Highgate, where I paint, draw, stage performative photographs, and make 3d textiles & sculptures.
My paintings are all made using high quality acrylic paints, combining fluid and heavy body paints, and all my colours are mixed from primaries. I also use chalk pastels and charcoal throughout my layers, sometimes these layers are visible and sometimes hidden. I use 12oz cotton canvas and stretch onto reclaimed frames.
I work from life, with plein air sketching to begin my paintings and then move into the studio where my work moves into memory and imagination to create dream-like scenes, based in reality but drifting into the abstract mind. I’m generally interested in the intimate exploration of wild nature through story, imaginations, and memory, as a way to explore our own wild natures.
