Artwork Description

We are made of ancient matter, propelled by the same energy that flows through the time/space reality of our universe.

When the earth was forming and not yet had an atmosphere. Dust particles from nearby and distant stars landed on its surface. Those molecules were the building blocks that we evolved from. Starmatter evolved into consciousness.

Charged with the energy from our own Sun, we exist. The binary of feminine and masculine both existing within the one connective whole.

Inspired from NASA images of the sun and the representation of Divine masculine and feminine.

Artist Bio

My name is Teresa Small, and I am a practising artist and art teacher. Growing up in the Hills Shire of Sydney, my journey in art began at age 12, when I began painting. At age 16, I sold my first artwork at the Cumberland Art Show, and I have been exhibiting my paintings and taking commissions ever since. Creating art is something I have always loved, and sharing beautiful moments with others is something by which I feel deeply impassioned. Making art is a freeing, meditative and satisfying process, from choosing the subject matter to signing the finished work.

Oil paint is my preferred medium and I take a classical approach to my work, which involves using many layers of thinned paint. I find the atmospheric effects of light and colour fascinating to explore, through my choice of colours and techniques; when the sunlight is filtered through a shroud of mist, the radiant glow that illuminates a landscape on a summer afternoon, or those magical twilight moments at dusk or dawn, when the sky shows its dazzling rainbow of colours. Landscapes are undoubtedly my subject of choice. While I am painting, I feel a sublime sense of creation, and while my colours and brush marks build the scene, I feel present in the moment I am capturing.
