Artwork Description

Every mark within this turtle's shell tells a story.
From historic ships and migrating whales to quiet sunsets, surfing waves and hidden coral reefs, each section represents a different connection to the ocean. Together they celebrate not only marine life, but the memories, adventures and moments that shape our relationship with the sea.
The sea turtle, a symbol of endurance, wisdom and sate passage, carries these stories as it glides through an underwater world illuminated by light from above. Layers of acrylic, spray paint and fine hand-painted details invite the viewer to pause and discover something new with every glance.
Currents of Memory is a celebration of our coastline, the lives it supports and the memories we carry long after we've left the water.

Artist Bio

“My artwork is a bold fusion of playfulness and urban edge. I draw inspiration from everyday objects and moments of joy, transforming them with vibrant neon colour palettes, graffiti drips, and explosive textures that shimmer with glitter, sparkles, and metallic hues.
Each piece is designed to feel alive — as though the paint is still wet and bursting off the canvas. I thrive on creating work that is both fun and contemporary, merging street-art energy with a polished, glowing finish.
At the heart of my practice is a desire to capture wonder and excitement, whether through a glowing rubber duck, a burst of dripping colour, or a mural that radiates positivity. My style is unapologetically bold, immersive, and made to leave a lasting impact.”
Growing up on the Central Coast in Wamberal, she now calls Lake Macquarie home, where she lives with her husband and three kids. Terese's artistic journey began in childhood, doodling everything from Looney Tunes to coastal landscapes. With experience in various mediums—thanks to GATS camps and art classes—she even dabbled in tattooing in her twenties. Inspired by her outdoor adventures, her art bursts with color and life. “I use anything that makes a mark,” she says, believing that variety fuels creativity. Her work is a reflection of her unique vision, aiming to inspire and captivate anyone who sees it.
“I, Terese Hudson acknowledges the Traditional Owners and custodians of Country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to the land, waters and skies, often expressed through art. We pay our respects to artists, Elders and community members past, present and future.“
