Artwork Description

This is a print of my original collage.
As a certified language nerd, I sometimes go off on a tangent. The phrase 'an open book', commonly used to denote transparency, sent me off into the wilderness and this artwork is the result.
The printed area measures around 29cm x 39cm. It is mounted in a distressed black box style frame and is ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Terri is a multi-disciplinary artist with a special interest in traditional printmaking forms. After downsizing to a more compact studio, she recently began to experiment with the art of collage, which is the focus of her work on this platform. Her art is characterised by strong narrative themes and a love of colour. She has held a number of solo exhibitions and has been represented as a finalist in various art prizes.

Artist Statement:
As an artist, what I value most highly is the freedom to play. The inherent surrealism in working with found images allows me to create worlds with no boundaries. On any given day, my output might be dreamy, moody, playful or offer serious commentary. Occasionally I follow a plan, but more often than not my process is very fluid. Working to bring together selected bits of old books and magazines into a cohesive composition is an endlessly fascinating challenge.

Whilst I have the greatest respect for artists of all disciplines, I am a strictly analogue creator. This involves many hours searching for the perfect piece, fiddly precision cutting and a complicated assembly process, but it is the way I connect to the process. It gives me enormous satisfaction to weave new stories from discarded and forgotten images. In line with my commitment to the environment, I prefer to present my work as ready to display in reconditioned frames. The frames are always in very good to great condition, with the benefit of being individually chosen to display each artwork to maximum advantage.
