Artwork Description

This piece captures the soft rolling hills of the Kenilworth, QLD area, near my home. The sun comes up on this side, peeking over the trees in the morning.

The perfect backdrop for vessels, this piece is beautifully small and a great way to add a pop of gentle colour or start the whole colour palette in the space.

This piece is also ideal to be unframed as the sides have been painted in the same detail as the front.
Easy to lean, but also looks beautiful off the surface and hung amongst other pieces.

Artist Bio

Terri Madden is a visual artist from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, best known for her impressionist landscapes and abstracted florals.

Working predominantly with acrylic paint, Terri also likes to experiment with ink and water colour. Her work is rich in texture and layering, revealing an eye for colour and pattern.

“I find that my creative process steers the course of a work, and frequently, something uncovered during experimentation ends up influencing the finer aspects of a piece.”

Themes explored through Terri's work include ‘sense of place’ and ‘sense of belonging’, and the role these themes play in the lives of contemporary women, especially mothers.

Terri explains her inspiration: “Each piece begins from the quiet resilience of life in the Australian country - the people, landscape, flora and fauna. I love to capture together the light and colour of the environment around me, they are always changing.”

Terri has been painting her whole life, but in 2005 completed a Diploma of Visual Arts, majoring in painting and illustration. She was selected for several group exhibitions, and then worked exclusively through commissions for over a decade. Most recently, Terri has begun exhibiting again, with several upcoming collections.

Terri says of her practice; "Creativity and expression are essential to me, and though I have two young children, I always find a way to squeeze in time to paint despite the challenges.”
