Cyclone Surf Noosa Ed. 1 of 25

This work is based on the premise that the ocean has a certain ‘horsepower’ whereby humans across the ages have been drawn to experience its ridable energy and enthral in its aesthetic qualities. The setting is a break known as the Boiling Pot in Noosa’s World Surfing Reserve. As a surfer, I have a deep appreciation for the continually changing form and temperament of the ocean as it encounters this special stretch of shoreline, and I understand how surfing a cyclone swell here is a coveted experience.

Living in the Noosa hinterland in Queensland aligns with Terri’s affinity for horses and the ocean, so these often feature in her artworks. She has attracted attention for her classically styled, life-size equine portraiture in oil on linen canvas, and aesthetically interesting mixed media drawings on unique papers. In her equine commissions and originals, Terri carefully represents the beauty and character of each revered horse as understood and appreciated by their people. As a surfer and open water swimmer, she translates visual delights encountered in the ocean to her art, offering a literally immersive and sometimes imaginative narrative.
