As an intuitive painter, my artwork evolves upon the canvas. I love all the aspects of the painting process, from the glimpses of the bright primary and secondary hues that flicker through from the under painting to the looseness and openness from using rollers, twigs and spatulas as well as paintbrushes. The process comprises of several layers of painted shapes and colours, which allow me to get into the depth of the painting and sculpt life and energy into the work. I often use ink applied with a twig to sketch the subject as part of the process.
It has often been commented that I capture spirit and character into my works, which I feel comes through me, rather than from me.
