Bubble O Bill was my favourite ice cream growing up. This artwork reimagines the classic ice cream as a contemporary pop-art portrait, elevating an everyday piece of Aussie nostalgia into something playful, bold and slightly surreal.
Using vivid colour, strong shadows and simplified forms, the work explores the shared memories many Australians have of milk bars, corner stores and hot summer afternoons. The exaggerated features transform a familiar childhood treat into a larger-than-life character while celebrating the visual language of Australian popular culture.
Part of an ongoing series exploring Australian nostalgia through contemporary painting.
