Artwork Description

In Truth Walker, landscape is not presented as scenery but as a living field of relationships. Organic forms dissolve the boundaries between water, vegetation, fire and atmosphere, while a subtle human presence emerges from within the environment rather than standing apart from it. The work invites viewers to consider the world as an interconnected ecology in which all beings participate in a shared unfolding.
While resonating with contemporary ecological thought and Indigenous understandings of relationality, Truth Walker does not seek to illustrate any singular cultural tradition. Instead, it offers a contemplative encounter with the more-than-human world, suggesting that truth is not an object to be possessed, but a practice of attentive presence.

Artist Bio

Tillian lives and works in Bundanoon, a highland village bordering the vast gorges of the Morton National Park. He studied painting, film and photography at Alexander Mackie Art School, Sydney and more recently completed a Master of Creative Arts at Wollongong University. He has had five solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows. Influenced by Indian ritual art, Aboriginal desert painting and Western art traditions, Tillian’s landscape paintings are visual narratives tracing passages and patterns in cyclic time and space. Works are constructed on site during lengthy sessions of immersion in the act of painting and the "happening of place".
