Imperfection

To pay credit to my personal obsession for everything cyberpunk – here is a wall feature that will break the ice for any conversation.

The darker tones help it work with any modern home. The bright blue hair and red butterfly capture the eyes of anyone walking by. Once caught, the viewer can get lost into the piercing stare – making you feel like it is watching you from every angle.

For me, my favorite part is the face on this painting, I find myself looking at it for hours, even catching it looking at me from my peripherals. Fear not, however! It isn’t as creepy as it sounds. The meaning behind it, is to ask the question; how far human kind will go to chase perfection? The butterfly (aka life) is already perfect – even with all of its IMPERFECTION.

My name is Tim Hodgman.

I am an artist from Queensland and have been performing some artistic task since I can remember. I started my work life as a forklift driver with not much future ahead of me, however; I refused to let it get the best of me and pursued the craft that has driven most of my life. From there, my artistic background has mostly been working in film, which is a career that has made me fortunate enough to travel globally.
I have now - being vastly inspired - transformed all the artistic practice I have learned and invested into my painting. This is art that speaks to me and I would hope that it speaks to you as well.
