Artwork Description

Realist painting influenced by Edward Hopper, of an industrial bridge very close to where I live near the old BHP works in Newcastle.

Coal trains work here constantly, dumping coal for the coal loader to load onto ships into Newcastle Harbour.

Painting was a finalist in Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize in 2015

Painting took me about 5 years to paint, in layers not all at once just worked on it small parts at a time. It has a red under painting to highlight the red haze given by industrial lights at night.

abstract nude "In metallic cold red and orange, 'Mandarin Reverie' captures a girl amidst abstract cubist fragments. The tree's geometric branches bear fruit, mirroring the girl's enigmatic form. Angular shapes converge, forming an innovative tapestry of perspective. The fusion of modern abstraction with the warmth of mandarin hues creates a captivating scene that invites contemplation."
