UTOPIA OR OBLIVION

This typographical painting was born out of a chaotic few weeks—a burst of energy shaped by overload, emotion, and the strange humour of the internet. Influenced by the visual noise of Instagram memes and digital junk, it merges fragments of text, colour, and pop imagery into a collision of meaning and nonsense. The piece captures that restless, overstimulated state where humour and confusion blur together, reflecting the chaos of both online culture and personal experience.

I’m Tim, a painter based in Newcastle, Australia, just north of Sydney. My work is driven by the joy of creating and the love of exploring ideas through paint. Most of my weekends are spent in the studio, experimenting with styles and techniques, while I work as a delivery driver during the week.
