'After the Feast' was a finalist painting in the Fleurieu Art Prize - Art of Food and Wine. 30 paintings were selected from artist entries around Australia for this $10,000 art prize. The exhibition was held in the McLaren Vale Gallery, South Australia. 'After the Feast' is an oil painting on board. It has a professional custom made circular frame moulding in flat black colour which complements the artwork. The painting is lush in texture with the impasto painting technique used. The paint has been applied with brush and palette knife creating a buttery finish. The artwork was painted from direct observation. The gnarly old skull having come from a farm in Burra, SA. The motif could be seen as a macabre one, but often of intrigue to the viewer. The artwork is ready to hang with the option of both a picture wire and D rings attached.
