This painting was a finalist in the 2019 Adelaide Hills Landscape Arts Prize. 41 finalist artworks were selected for this biennial art prize held at the Hahndorf Academy. ‘On the road to Uraidla’ is an en-plein air oil painting created in the late afternoon. An array of lighting effects, cast shadows and colour changes were experienced as the sun retreated. It was painted with energy and vigor in an attempt to capture the amazing vista before the sun fell, the soft wind chilled, and the temperature dropped. Winter was passing, Spring was just upon us. The artwork is professionally framed with a contemporary white moulding and framers wire, ready to hang.
