Artwork Description

My Hydrangea series of paintings began as an exploration of blues - of their moods, their weight, their softness. I've always been drawn to blue, not just for its beauty but for the way it holds emotion without being named.

Each tone added its own quiet note, like a breath in a room when no one is speaking, but everything is felt.

Artist Bio

TJL is my creative alias. It is a reminder of the love of my family and friends that anchors my work.

My work is inspired by the natural world, the emotional depth of grief, and the quiet power of colour.

I paint mostly with acrylics, often working on canvas or hand-painted linen. My palette leans towards earthy, muted tones — drawn from landscapes, dried blooms, and the changing light. Grief has shaped much of my creative journey, and painting has become a way to gently explore memory, emotion, and beauty in its quieter forms.

I don’t aim for perfection or polished stillness — I’m more interested in the process of slowing down, feeling deeply, and creating something honest. Each piece is painted with care, inviting a sense of calm, connection, or reflection.

I’m based in Brisbane and currently studying design and anthropology — fields that keep me curious about the world and our place in it.
