‘Friday Night Drinks’ is an artwork in a series that I’ve been painting concerning beauty in the urban environment that is often overlooked in the midst of our busy lives. This street level perspective captures the reflected lights of inner city bars and restaurants in a manhole cover and wet street.
I’ve painted a bokeh effect in this cityscape artwork, the term comes from the Japanese word boke which means ‘blur’ or ‘haze’. Although the bokeh effect is primarily a photographic technique I’ve replicated it here to accentuate the distorting and abstracting effect it has on the sources of light.
This artwork has a stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 64cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).
