‘Going Dutch’ is part of a series of unconventional blurred artworks that I've been paintings where the subject is vaguely familiar yet foreign. In this painting I've 'remastered' a 1632 portrait by Dutch artist Rembrandt (1606-1669) of Merchant Marten Looten. Sharp lines and detail have been omitted in the painting process of layered aerosol paint resulting in an image as if seen though squinting eyes or an unfocussed camera.
