Artwork Description

This sculpture is comprised of fourteen 2 dimensional paintings on clear Perspex/acrylic sheet that are layered to give the illusion of a solid, floating 3 dimension object. The form of the sculpture changes dramatically depending on the angle you’re viewing it – this can be a little difficult to visualize with static photos so I’ve attached a short video that will give you an idea (see https://youtu.be/GHzIYoh3R1k)

I explore the intersection of heaven and earth in this sculpture. I have used the negative space of the Cross to represent where heaven (represented by the yellow space) and earth (the blue sphere) collide and merge to become one. Heaven and Earth overlap where praise and appreciation of the works of a higher power are celebrated and bring forth fertility represented by this work in green, creating new life, hope and wonder.

'Heaven and Earth' is a multi award winning sculpture:
+ Runner-up, Bluethumb Art Prize Sculpture Award, Australia, 2021
+ Finalist, Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 2018
+ Finalist, Albert Park College Art Show, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 2018
+ Winner, Brunswick Street Gallery Small Works Award, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 2017
+ Runner-up, St John’s Art Prize, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 2017

The size of the artwork is 30cm(w) x 30cm(h) x 25cm(d). The sculpture comes with a protective acrylic case that measures 31cm(w) x 31cm(h) x 26.5cm(d). The white wooden base measures 33.5cm(w) x 3cm(h) x 29cm(d).
