Midsumma Festival on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy Melbourne. This artwork is often mistaken for a photo but it has been completely painted in a blurred/out focus style using liquid acrylic paint applied through an airbrush.

This artwork has a stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 64cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).

Artist Bio

Todd Simpson is a Melbourne based contemporary artist. Todd studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and practices in the fields of sculpture, portraiture and painting. He has been a finalist in numerous Australian and New Zealand Art awards for his work including the Glover Prize (2025 People’s Choice Winner), Clayton Utz Art Award (2025 Highly Commended & People’s Choice Winner), Calleen Art Award (2025 People’s Choice Winner) and Lethbridge Landscape Prize (2025 Highly Commended). In 2025 he was named as one of Australia’s top 100 artists by top100artists.com.
