This scene speaks to my first trip to New York many years ago. I was in the US on business and made a detour to New York to visit my brother who was working there at the time. Being my first trip I wanted to do all the touristy things such as The Met, The Guggenheim, Central Park and of course a show on Broadway. While my brother was at work in his job as hipster architect I was happily out seeing the sights. He tried to convince me that a better option than Broadway would be a basement band that played improvised music on pieces of garbage, not for being dissuaded I booked tickets to the mainstream Broadway show ‘River Dance’ (Irish folk meets American dance). To my surprise he agreed to join me and after 2 hours of what I thought was a sensational show the entire audience was on their feet in a standing ovation – everyone that is except my brother who was seated with his arms folded with a scowl on his face. Oh well.
