In "The Overland Entwined," I explore Tasmania's ancient forest through stark monochromatic contrasts. By stripping away colour, I reveal the raw architecture of gnarled trunks, weathered bark, and delicate lichen that define this remote wilderness. The black-and-white treatment serves a dual purpose: highlighting nature's intricate textures while evoking the fragility of these threatened ecosystems. Like an aged photograph, the image speaks to fading memories and environmental vulnerability. Through this lens, the twisted branches and deep shadows become both a celebration of Tasmania's unique landscape and a warning about its uncertain future.
The artwork has a black, oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 80cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).
'The Overland Entwined' was a finalist in the Omnia Art Prize 2025.
