Artwork Description

This sculpture is comprised of fourteen 2 dimensional paintings on clear Perspex/acrylic sheet that are layered to give the illusion of a solid, floating 3 dimension cube. The form of the sculpture changes dramatically depending on the angle you’re viewing it – this can be a little difficult to visualize with static photos so I’ve filmed a short video that will give you an idea (see https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iGlInuxHXww)

I’ve called this sculpture ‘Trinity’ as it visually represents the concept of three parts making up the whole. This is a concept that’s widespread in western civilisation from the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) to the three pillars of democratic Government (Legislature, Executive and Judiciary). In each case the whole is great than the sum of the parts just as in this sculpture without all its component pieces the cube form would be unrecognisable.

The size of the artwork is 30cm(w) x 30cm(h) x 25cm(d). The sculpture comes with a protective acrylic case that measures 30.5 cm(w) x 32.5cm(h) x30cm(d). The white wooden base measures 33cm(w) x 4cm(h) x 32.5cm(d).

This artwork is a finalist in the Bluethumb Art Prize 2022.
