Australia’s bushfires of early 2020 may feel like a distant memory in light of subsequent events but they remain an ever present danger. The smoke and distorting light of an approaching fire can produce a surreal, other-worldly sense of tension and impending destruction. Looking skyward through the tree canopy this painting captures a feeling that trouble is brewing and on its way.
I’ve recently reworked this artwork to incorporate a more dramatic palette.
In keeping with the theme the painting has a charcoal stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 95cm (h) x 5.5cm (d). It has been wired to hang in a portrait format but can also be wired to hang in landscape (as shown in the in situ image).
