Water lilies are iconically associated with the French artist Monet and during his lifetime he painted some 250 water lily art works. While the inspiration is lacking for me to emulate Monet’s monumental feat this is the second time I’ve painted water lilies.
The technique I’ve used to create this painting is a replication by hand of the modern colour printing process whereby transparent layers of cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) are applied over the top of one another to produce a full spectrum of colour. This artwork is composed of 3 distinct overlaid paintings on clear perspex sheet in CMY paint on a black painted white base (see in progress images).
This work is ready to hang in a white wooden frame with the dimensions 52cm (h) x 52cm (w) x 4.5cm (d).
