I believe this painting to be very much of its time. It is a love letter to the natural world and speaks of our growing detachment from it. It was created during lockdown with a heightened sense of longing for time amongst trees. It has been made in a time in which a pressure exists for artists to mine all experience for 'content' - to be exposing and sharing times previously reserved for intimacy and reflection. The square format echoes the instagram post in which the artwork will inevitably be exposed to the most viewers. The typographic treatment is based off a sign I came across some time ago that read 'CRAZY PRICES'.
The frame is made from Victorian Ash, custom painted on the top and inner faces with the same colour featured on the text in the artwork, with a natural wax finish on the outer face.
