As with many of my paintings, the subjects are close friends of mine, but I don't see their identities as being relevant to the reading of the work. I have tried to utilise colour to describe the intensity of loving intimacy, and tried to capture an expression that leaves some space for interpretation of the internal circumstances of the subject as well as the external.
