When Tom met Elly Graham she was a fresh young actor, with a broad range and a love of Cosplay- the art of dressing up in costume either from pop culture or of one's own creation. Recently accepted to work as a performer for the Starlight Foundation, she was full of enthusiasm at the notion of bringing joy to sick children. Yet there was a maturity to Elly that spoke of a certain bittersweet reflection and self awareness. The glamour of the stage and screen, the lights...it was all fleeting and illusory.
And so Tom created this piece with Elly, reminiscent of the faded glories of a 30s movie star or stage actor. The light that burned brightest.
Presented on stretched linen with the edges painted and set in a black floating frame.
