Artwork Description

Raw energy, movement and colour collide in Pulse, a vibrant abstract that seems to have a rhythm and heartbeat all of its own.

An explosion of electric blues, fiery reds, yellows and black creates a richly layered backdrop, while energetic white loops, splashes and spontaneous markings weave their way across the canvas. Fragments of numbers and symbols emerge from the chaos, adding a sense of mystery and an almost urban, graffiti-like character.

There is something wonderfully restless about the composition. The overlapping colours, intricate textures and seemingly random marks create a sense of constant activity, as though the painting is alive with its own internal energy.

The title Pulse suggests rhythm, movement and the invisible forces that keep things alive. Perhaps it's the heartbeat of a city, the energy of a crowded room or simply the exhilaration of being caught up in the moment.

Bold, unapologetic and full of life, Pulse invites the viewer to embrace the chaos and discover the rhythm within it.

Artist Bio

Tony Grima is a Sydney-based contemporary artist with a studio near the beautiful Blue Mountains and Nepean River. His paintings have found their way into private collections across Australia, the United States, Germany, France, Spain and the Middle East.

Tony's interest in art began at an early age, initially through drawing cartoons and caricatures, including illustrating his high school newspaper. He later explored other creative outlets, including spray painting murals on panel vans, and has also enjoyed a lifelong involvement in music, performing in several bands over the years.

Working predominantly with oils and acrylics, often incorporating mixed media, Tony's paintings reflect his enjoyment of colour, texture, movement and the freedom of abstract expression. His work ranges from bold, energetic compositions to more atmospheric abstractions and interpretations of the landscape.

His approach to painting is largely intuitive. Sometimes an idea is inspired by something he has seen, read or experienced. At other times, it begins simply with the urge to put paint on canvas and see what develops. As a painting progresses, ideas evolve, layers are added, textures emerge and colour combinations are explored. A painting may change direction several times before Tony reaches a point where it simply looks and feels right.

Rather than being confined to a particular style or predetermined outcome, Tony enjoys the freedom to experiment and discover new possibilities through the creative process.

Ultimately, he hopes his paintings invite people to pause, explore and find their own meaning in what they see, whether that brings a smile, sparks curiosity or encourages a moment of reflection.
