Artwork Description

I used to visit Belongil Beach every year before Christmas. On my last trip I took some photos the afternoon before I left for home. There were these pinkish colors in the clouds that I loved and I knew I would want to paint.

It's signed on the side but I can sign the painted surface (if preferred) and provide a Certificate of Authenticity

Artist Bio

I've always had a love of art for as long as I can remember. It all began with my older brother's comic collecion and trying to immitate those artists when I was very young. Then drawing band logos in my homework diary and other doodles. Got kicked out of maths class for drawing Iron Maiden album covers on my desk several times. As I got older I became interested in portraits and photo-realism and found inspiration from artists like Frazetta, H R Giger, Sorayama, and some of the old masters. I tend to go from painting seascapes, to pop culture influenced works.

I live in Bondi Junction, in Sydney New South Wales, and seem to find myself drawn to the beach. There's few things as relaxing as watching the waves rolling in while watching the sunset and I try to capture some of the feeling of being at the beach in my seascapes.

Also I'm very into music, film, TV and tattoo art, so I find inspiration from that as well

I'm largely self taught and started off drawing in pencil, mostly if not exclusively in black and white. Then I moved on to using a tablet and my laptop making digital art and learned digital painting. After visiting the Art Gallery of NSW one year to see the Archibald Prize finalists I got interested in learning traditional painting. It's been a long road from there and I feel I'm finally able to bring my vision to life in oil paint.

I mostly work in thin layers and love to work on precise details. Though it is time consuming I really enjoy the process and seeing a painting come to life.
