Artwork Description

I was inspired by this old growth rain forest tree while bush walking at Witches Falls, Mt Tamborine. To me the convoluted root growth represents life with all its twists and turns and switchbacks. In daily life we are rooted to the ground mired in our pragmatic tasks while at the same time we are yearning/reaching for spiritual enlightenment (light).
The rain forest light suggested the cool tones of blue/green/purple. I found myself applying paint in a much freer manner than usual. In keeping with the natural theme of the subject matter I used an unbleached linen canvas and left parts of it uncovered by paint.

Artist Bio

Tracey Hall won her first art competition at the age of 8 but raising a family has taken up most of her time until recently. Primarily self-taught, she began painting brides’ bouquets as an everlasting wedding memento in 2013.

Tracey specialises in realistic, intricate and detailed artworks of glorious blooms and natural subjects so painting bouquets seemed a natural fit. Immediately the feedback from florists working in the wedding industry was very positive as they saw this service as an alternative to having flowers preserved.

The intricate layers in her paintings create a maze for the eye and capture the viewers’ interest again and again. Tracey loves colour and the natural world is often a riot of colour and is a constant inspiration.
