Protea Pastel

On a recent holiday to the Huon valley, Tasmania, we were staying next to a protea farm. It was an idyllic spot and I took many photos wandering through the rows to inspire me back home. I actually think the protea leaves, with all their different shades of green are just as beautiful as the blooms.

Tracey Hall won her first art competition at the age of 8 but raising a family has taken up most of her time until recently. Primarily self-taught, she began painting brides’ bouquets as an everlasting wedding memento in 2013.

Tracey specialises in realistic, intricate and detailed artworks of glorious blooms and natural subjects so painting bouquets seemed a natural fit. Immediately the feedback from florists working in the wedding industry was very positive as they saw this service as an alternative to having flowers preserved.

The intricate layers in her paintings create a maze for the eye and capture the viewers’ interest again and again. Tracey loves colour and the natural world is often a riot of colour and is a constant inspiration.
