Artwork Description

This painting is of a cinema theatre located near my home. I took a photo of it one day and used it for my reference to paint it. I was delighted and surprised to find two ladies hugging and I believe they were meeting each other to see a film together on that day. It is very nostalgic theatre and still has the unique foot warmers that are wonderful when going to see a film in Winter. The facade of the cinema is covered in multicoloured mottled brown ceramic tiles that give it great character. The Cameo sign on the roof is in a Art Deco style as the cinema was opened in 1935. It also has an outdoor cinema area for summer time. Please note this painting has been professionally framed by Artist ‘Stephen Glover’ in a handcrafted Tasmanian Oak Wooden Floating Frame.

Artist Bio

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work!
I'm an artist based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, where I create in a variety of styles and mediums. My practice is rooted in a love for vibrant colour and expressive form, spanning from quirky naïve art and linocut prints to abstract works, portraits, surrealism, and impressionism. I work primarily with acrylics, oils, and rich oil pastels, allowing each piece to come to life with its own unique energy and personality.
