Artwork Description

Miss Florence Winterbottom was known for three things: her impossible hats, her dangerous honesty, and her tiny pink lips that never smiled unless absolutely necessary.
Every Tuesday at precisely four o’clock, she would stroll through the village carrying a small silver spoon in her handbag “in case of pudding emergencies.” No one knew exactly what that meant, but no one dared ask. Children adored her. Dogs followed her. Husbands suddenly remembered important appointments whenever she appeared.
Florence lived alone in a tall narrow house with crooked wallpaper and a parlour full of pearl necklaces hanging from lamp shades. She claimed pearls absorbed bad moods. Judging by the village gossip, she may have been right.
Miss Florence Winterbottom is a character who is very, very quirky…. and if you have love a bit of whimsical quirkiness in your life, she is someone you will love to have hanging on your wall at home! This painting has been protected with a satin varnish.

Artist Bio

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work!
I'm an artist based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, where I create in a variety of styles and mediums. My practice is rooted in a love for vibrant colour and expressive form, spanning from quirky naïve art and linocut prints to abstract works, portraits, surrealism, and impressionism. I work primarily with acrylics, oils, and rich oil pastels, allowing each piece to come to life with its own unique energy and personality.
